The Vascular Access Team is a newly formed team, about two years now. The team started out with one nurse. This nurse is now the Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM). The team has grown to seven nurses and the team covers all areas of Arnold Palmer Medical Center with the exception of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Under the guidance and direction from the original nurse, Meagan Wouda, now the CANM, the team is highly skilled in placing PICCs, PIVs with ultrasounds, troubleshooting lines, Broviac repair and are an excellent resource to nurses and have increased patient satisfaction.
Through mentoring each other on the team they recently have received board certification for their area. The team has team members who were very new to the role, with less than one-year experience, but have all obtained their certification. The team is amazing and provides extraordinary care to all patients with their highly skilled abilities. Congratulations to the entire team on becoming 100% certified.
