Vilma plays an integral role on the Stem Cell Transplant and Cell Therapy Program at the comprehensive care and research center in Zion, Ill, as a care manager working with patients who are post-stem cell transplant.
"I was absolutely humbled when I learned I received the award," said Vilma. "There are so many worthy nurses working in our hospital for me to have been chosen makes me want to work even harder for my fellow nurses and especially my patients."

Vilma was recognized by a patient, who anonymously shares: "Vilma, has been very helpful in contacting me each week to give me the results of my lab tests and by following up with my physicians, sharing my lab results with them, obtaining their weekly instructions and then passing these on to me. Her doing so is extremely important and also challenging because my weekly lab results can vary greatly, which means that Vilma has to speak to my doctors about my current test levels and then pass on their instructions to me. Vilma is, and has always been, very pleasant and helpful…"
