About a year ago my Dad had a surgery here at Mercy, and his body rejected the surgery. Prior to his surgery, he was a quadriplegic for the past 13 years. His case was, therefore, pretty intense resulting in his admittance to Mercy's ICU. My four younger sisters, mom, aunts, uncles and cousins spent two weeks around the clock here at the ICU, praying he would pull through.

During that time, from the first moment in the ICU, Whitney was there for my Dad. She treated him and our family with the utmost respect, concern, care, grace, and love. She answered a million questions, supported us during good and bad news, and gave her heart to us.

My Dad passed after those two weeks at the age of 47; we honestly saw very little hope in this world at that time. We traveled two hours home to make funeral arrangements. It was honestly unbearable as we grieved during the visitation. Then in the crowd, Whitney appeared, having traveled over two hours, waited in the three hour long line, to continue loving and supporting us.

Over a year later, she continues to contact us and has become from that moment at the visitation our "light of hope". As hard as this world can be, God created "Whitney" to shine a light on us and show us His love!
