International Home Care Nurses Organization (IHCNO)

The mission of the International Home Care Nurses Organization (IHCNO) is to develop and support a vibrant, world-wide network of nurses who support and promote excellence in providing optimal health and well-being to patients living in their homes through education and research.

IHCNO was founded in 2009 by Tina Marrelli, MSN, MA, RN, FAAN, the former editor of Home Healthcare Now, together with a group of home care nurse leaders, to advance the profession of home care nursing. Since its founding, IHCNO, a non-profit organization, cohosted international conferences (two in the United States; one in Singapore), funded a research grant and developed educational resources such as International Guidelines for Home Health Nursing Practice.

The Guidelines, through a licensing agreement with the American Nurses Association, were developed by an international group of home care nurses representing diverse countries.  They are guiding principles for nurses who seek to develop their home health care practice and aspire to provide excellent care to patients in their homes.
