The DAISY Foundation™ invites your organization to submit your recent DAISY Award® Nurses and DAISY Team Award Honorees as nominees for the 10th annual DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in Patient Safety, presented in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Keep scrolling to learn more.
The DAISY Foundation and IHI created this exciting recognition to celebrate the personal commitment to patient and workforce safety in the delivery of compassionate care by nurses for patients and families. This award, sponsored by Baxter, raises awareness of the significant contributions of nurses with respect to patient and workforce safety. The award will be presented during the annual IHI Patient Safety Congress, in Orlando in May 2024.
To be eligible for this award, nominees must be DAISY Award or DAISY Team Award recipients, recognized during the January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 time period. They must be registered with The DAISY Foundation and have a DAISY Spotlight on the DAISY website.
We know DAISY Nurses are highly compassionate; that's why they received The DAISY Award. For your nominees to be considered for this award, we ask you to provide additional support for their overall commitment to safety with detailed information. Read nomination highlights from past recipients here.
The form asks for statements of support from the Chief Nursing Officer/Executive (required), and from either of the following: the nurse's manager, the charge nurse, the patient that she/he cared for, or the patient's family member. (Statements from at least one of these people in addition to the Chief Nursing Officer/Executive are required.)
You may submit more than one nominee, as long as they meet the criteria described above.
Application now closed. Selections will be announced in February, 2024.
IHI and DAISY have gathered an esteemed panel of judges who will evaluate the submissions using the following criteria:
• Patient or Workforce Safety
• Unique Physical/Emotional Needs Met (i.e., patient/family focus)
• Compassion
• Contemporary/Relevant Healthcare Safety Issues
You will be notified of the judges' selection in February 2024.
IHI will fund travel and conference registration for two Honorees, one representing the individual and one representing the team award. These individuals will receive the awards on-stage during a plenary session at the IHI Annual Patient Safety Congress. IHI will provide details of their travel reimbursement policy with the notification of the Award decision.
We hope you share our excitement about this unique recognition of nurses whose compassionate and safe care has made a profound difference to patients and families. We look forward to receiving your nominations.
