Since the COVID pandemic started last Mar 2020 and up to now, 1A unit has been appointed as COVID medsurg unit. At some point, 1A was also half COVID/medsurg and half COVID/IMU. In spite of the fears and uncertainties at the beginning of the pandemic, the staff did their job and fulfilled the mission to take care of the patients with passion. The leaders and staff have been working tirelessly, embracing the transition and challenges with pride and honor. They take extra care and are there for the COVID patients whose families can't be there for them due to visitor restrictions. Most of the staff and their family contracted COVID as well, but they still came back to work courageously and relentlessly. As one of the team members, I am proud and commend our 1A unit family for all the hard work and dedication they served in MHSE hospital and our community throughout the pandemic.
