1LT Schwei was an amazing nurse and advocate. After her patient passed sooner than expected, the family member at the bedside (her sister) was inconsolable with heartbreak and lived about three hours away from Madigan. 1LT Schwei used clinical judgment and compassion to see it was unsafe for the sister to drive home safely on this late rainy night. She spent 4 hours on the phone making multiple connections to find somewhere this family member could stay. The end result was amazing, the sister received a free night to sleep at the hotel on post. 1LT Schwei went way above normal RN duties to ensure the family member was safe and comforted after the loss of her sister.
