During the holiday season, the 2 Monti staff had the privilege of becoming well-acquainted with a very special patient. The patient, along with his wife and young son had recently received some devastating news that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He would need to undergo an extensively long surgical procedure and then endure a difficult road to recovery. Being the compassionate group they are, the 2 Monti staff could see in the family's faces that this would affect their holidays as their husband and father was the sole bread-winner of their household. As they do for all their patients, the 2 Monti staff came together and decided to host a Christmas celebration for the patient and his family on the unit complete with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree as well as gifts underneath! As the patient and his family walked into the room the entire floor greeted then with holiday cheer and carols. The collaboration between Patient Family Centered Care, Child Life, and the 2 Monti staff was executed flawlessly. Seeing the family's smiles and laughter was all the unit needed to know they did a truly fantastic job giving the patient, his wife and son the best Christmas they could have. It was a mini Christmas Miracle.
