This dedicated group clearly meets or exceeds the criteria for the DAISY Team Award for how they bring empathy and compassion to some of the most difficult days of a patient’s life. Just today, a patient mentioned to me how “terrifying” it is to be on 2 South as a patient. It takes unique clinical knowledge, training, and heart to address the needs of the oncology patient. Providing extraordinary oncology care requires our staff to champion the values that DAISY stands for. I hope to capture some of these in this nomination. As I think of the past, most difficult year in my years of nursing, this team has excelled in many clinical areas, ending with no Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections, no Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries, the highest inpatient patient experience score, and a high work environment index. This is only possible with the attributes of compassion, trust, teamwork, love, and selflessness.
Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
