My father had four admissions to PCU for a month. He has several serious chronic conditions that are complicated by a rare bleeding disorder. All of the staff on PCU did a wonderful job providing his care. The Nurses, Nurse Manager, Nursing assistants, Doctors, case-managers, dietary hostess, unit secretaries, and the housekeeper all went above and beyond to work as a team to make sure he was well cared for.
All shifts and staff members put his needs first as they took care of acute medical issues, reassured him and educated him about new conditions. The nurses collaborated with the doctors and the pharmacy to make sure his factor VIII levels and infusions were timely and ordered appropriately. They updated family members and were available anytime they were needed.
Dr. Viradiya and Dr. Jain coordinated with the hemophilia center to make sure he was receiving the best and most appropriate care. All of the doctors did a great job keeping us all informed and including us in his plan of care. My father felt safe, valued, and cared for while on PCU. As his family members, we felt it was okay to leave him and go home because we knew he was in excellent hands with the PCU staff.
As a result of the care he received, he is motivated and working hard every day to improve his health. A simple thank you could never be enough!
Everyone he encountered while on PCU was wonderful. We would like to send a special thank you and recognition to:
Nurses: Veronique, Ellen, Stacy, Farah, Rachael, Maria
Nursing Assistants: Niels, Rosetta
Doctors: Dr. Jain, Dr. Alkhuja, Dr. Viradiya, Dr. Chaudhry and Dr. Gazizov
You are all professional, compassionate, and overall just amazing!
