We had a younger patient admitted to our floor for chest pain. He needed a cardiac cath. The patient chose to come to Meritus vs. a closer hospital because his wife was due to have a baby any day, and she was delivering at Meritus!

2 am rolled around, and the patient rang his call bell. His wife was downstairs and admitted to L & D. Baby #4 was on the way! Sarah was the primary nurse for this gentleman. She was about to get an unstable patient from the ED and was unable to take this guy down to see his wife. Heather, Sarah, and Kristen all stepped in. They connected him up to a portable telemetry monitor, notified the monitor room what was going on, coordinated with the L & D girls, and got the patient down just in time! His new baby girl was delivered within the hour, and he was able to be there with his wife and latest child. The team relieved each other to take a new admission. It was truly a group effort o help this patient, his wife, and new baby celebrate such a happy life moment!
