I had the pleasure of precepting as a nursing student on the 4th floor telemetry. I also worked as a sitter and had the opportunity to go to all of the floors to sit. However, I enjoyed the telemetry floor so much that I applied there after nursing school. I have now been a nurse for almost twelve years. There is a reason why I have never left. As a nurse, every day is not perfect or great. However, the people that you surround yourself with make all the difference. The teamwork and positivity are infectious. I always feel like we have each other’s backs and are always willing to lend a hand to whoever needs it. This also builds confidence, morale, and can make a significant difference in the outcome of your day. Even during the height of COVID, we stuck together as a team, getting through each day together. We have staff who used to work on the unit before that are even coming back to work with us again. We are not just a unit or a team, we are family.
