In August I celebrated my 41st anniversary with my wife in San Diego. A couple of days later, my wife got sick and ended up in the ICU. I drove myself to the ER and ended up in 5 South. The nurses and staff of 5 South were supportive, caring, and on top of it. Your staff saved my life. They knew exactly what to do about his COVID and they told me how to prone and help myself while they do the rest. A few days after being admitted, I was told that my wife was not doing well in the ICU and ended up passing away. Your nurses, all of them, took turns coming into my room to offer prayer and condolences, they listened to me cry, and gave me comfort, they never left my side. After my wife passed away, I would have given up if it weren’t for the love and support of the nurses and mobility techs on the unit. I never have to use my call light for anything. They always make sure I have what I need. They treat me like family. I would’ve given up if it weren’t for them. I want to recognize all of them, they have gone far and beyond what is required of their job. Thank you to everyone who took care of me. I used to be on the other side of delivering news to families of dead loved ones. Without your staff, I would not have made it through my wife's passing. Never in my life have I seen such professionalism. I admire your commitment to health. I’ve been treated with dignity and respect. Without you, I would not be here. Please let them know how much I appreciate their love.
