I am honored to recommend the entire 5K nursing team—nurses, CNAs, and staff alike—led by Nurse Leaders Janna Wells and Dani Callman, for the DAISY Nurse-Led Team Award.
My husband has been a patient on 5K for six weeks, and the care he has received has been extraordinary. From the very beginning, this team has treated him—and our family—with kindness, compassion, and respect. They live the hospital’s values in everything they do: showing compassion through their patience and understanding, treating him with dignity even in the most vulnerable moments, and delivering care with excellence and integrity every single day. I have also seen their strong sense of justice as they consistently advocate for his needs and make sure his care is always the top priority.
What has meant the most to me is how this team cared not only for my husband, but also for me. On days when I was worn out, several nurses reminded me that it was important to take care of myself too. I will always be grateful for that kindness. I also deeply appreciate the CNAs, who were so attentive in making sure my husband was comfortable—whether adjusting his bed, checking in on him frequently, or taking time to make sure the little things were done well. Those everyday acts made a big difference in his recovery and gave me peace of mind.
Equally remarkable is the way this team works together. Nurses and CNAs cover for one another without hesitation—whether it’s answering a call light, refilling a water cup, or checking in just to be sure he had what he needed. No task is ever considered too small; their shared commitment is always the patient's well-being. I have seen many times when one nurse or CNA stepped in to help another, creating a true sense of teamwork and support that we, as a family, could feel.
Janna and Dani's leadership sets the tone for this culture of compassion and excellence. Their steady presence, professionalism, and example ensure that every member of the 5K team works with humility, respect, and heart. Because of their leadership, 5K is not simply a hospital unit; it is a place of healing, comfort, and hope.
For these reasons, I wholeheartedly recommend the 5K nursing team, including the exceptional CNAs, for the DAISY Nurse-Led Team Award. They are living examples of compassion, dignity, justice, excellence, and integrity—and they have transformed what could have been a difficult chapter in our lives into one marked by extraordinary care, professionalism, and kindness we will never forget.
