An elderly patient who was supposed to go home with hospice care took a turn for the worse while Kellee was caring for him. She tried to reach the family, but no one answered. Kellee made arrangements with the charge nurse and other co-workers to care for her patients so she could sit with this patient. Kellee sat with him for several hours. She played music for him, held his hand, and talked with him until his family arrived. The patient passed away that night, but he did not have to be alone during the last hours of his life.
