May 2025 Honoree
6 West 2025
6W recently had a patient who came in as a social admit with their mother due to not being able to care for themselves. Shortly into the admission, the patient’s mother passed away. While the patient is able to understand what happened, his condition made it difficult for him to process this event. 6W staff took the patient down to CCU to say his goodbyes to his mother and help him begin the grieving process. Additionally, the patient continued his stay with no family and no ability to return home independently. The patient stayed through Easter and his birthday, so the whole team pitched in and provided a birthday gift, Easter gift, and went the extra mile to take his laundry home to wash and fold his clothes for him. This patient was really made a part of the 6W family, and what a way to exhibit the Ascension mission and values of service to the vulnerable and extending kindness.
Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
