To the amazing staff who played a role in taking care of me, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. There are not enough words to describe my sincere gratitude for the level of care that I received, whether it was taking my food order, keeping my room cleaned, answering my many calls, running tests, helping me in and out of bed, or simply just checking in on me and sharing a laugh or two and listening to my crazy stories. I always felt like a priority and a person, not just an illness or test subject. Everyone was always so patient with me and took their time trying to get better; that in itself made my stay better. I know you guys don't get much sleep with the jobs you have, but not once did I feel like a burden. Now, I can go on and on about all the amazing work you have done for me and all the joy you have brought me here, but then it would take all day. I just want to say thank you, truly, Thank You. All you have done has made me so blessed, and my stay has been surprisingly enjoyable, so thank you!

The nursing team on 6 Wolfson cared for a very complex burn patient for 6 weeks. This patient had severe burns in an anatomically challenging area, a difficult family social situation, and required multiple surgeries during this time. This was significantly more severe than any recent burn we have cared for, and I initially had some reservations about whether our nursing staff could support such a severe burn. I cannot say enough about the care that he received through his hospital stay.
From assisting with difficult dressings to providing loving support when parents were not available, to coordinating care between multiple services, the nurses were always enthusiastic and supportive. While the surgeries were certainly challenging, they would not have succeeded without the diligent dressing care and creative solutions for wound care provided by the nursing team. And although this child underwent six weeks of traumatizing, painful procedures, every time I came up to the unit, he was laughing and happy, thanks to his wonderful care team. Finally, the nursing team was instrumental in helping navigate the child's complex social situation. They worked hard with both the surgical team and the family to ensure that the family was kept up to date and was present for surgical consents. This child is doing well after discharge, and I know this outcome would not have been possible without our wonderful 6 Wolfson nurses!
Congratulations, 6 Wolfson! Thank you for all you do for our patients, families, and team members!
