I always believed that we should give credit where credit is due as well as praise each other when we witness greatness. Today I worked on 8 East/Lachman, and as I walked in on their Caring Moment rounds, I was too shy to share, and it was too early in the morning for me, but I wished I had shared my feelings. I just would like to give a shout-out to 8 East/Lachman nurses, aides, clerks, housekeepers, management, and educators – basically, everyone who works on 8 East/ Lachman. Everyone is such a team player and welcoming, and most of all everyone is such a hard worker who delivers the highest level of patient care.

This is evident in the environment because things are clean and organized, helping nurses work smarter, not harder. This is also evident in everyone's team-working attitude. Everyone is ready to jump in and help a colleague because they all know it benefits the patient. I know that these nurses and aides go above and beyond for ALL patients. The strongest nurses I know work on 8 East/Lachman.

As a float RN, I work in many different units, but I can assure you that these units are the most enjoyable to work on as well as the best managed in the hospital. I can also share that when my mother was sick and admitted to another hospital, I knew she needed the care of 8 East/Lachman, and she was transferred here. I trusted all of my coworkers with my mother's life because I know how amazing all of the staff is and knew she was in the best hands in NYC.

The key factor in the success of this unit is Lisa Peters. I can only observe her leadership when I am on the unit, but I can tell you, she is an amazing leader. She inspires her staff to be the best they can be and is always so humble. Lisa always presents herself with such poise and grace, she never cracks under stress or pressure. She is respectful, hardworking, and cares a lot about everyone. 8 East/Lachman is a family and a cohesive unit because of what Lisa has done. I can tell that everyone works hard on this unit and they do this because of Lisa and the environment she has created. Lisa makes me want to do my best and I only get to interact with her occasionally. I can't imagine what it is like to continually work under her direction. Should I ever leave the float pool to find a "home", this unit would sure be a top contender. It is always a pleasure to work on that unit and would like to thank you, Lisa, for always supporting us and making 8 East/Lach the amazing unit that it is.

Let me start by saying how incredible the entire 8 East unit at Lenox Hill Hospital is! The level of outstanding, extraordinary care this team has provided my son is simply stellar! From reception to the PCAs, to the RNs, and the management team, they have made a very difficult situation manageable. The positivity among the staff and teamwork is unlike anything I have ever seen. They work tirelessly to ensure that not only my son, but I have anything we need, whether it's ice water, sheets for my chair, kind work, or at times, a shoulder to cry on. I am forever grateful! They advocate for the best care, and the most thorough treatment, and always make sure I am ok and that I understand the plan and information delivered. They are so knowledgeable; they clearly take their profession very seriously! Despite what may be going on from patient to patient, the vibe is always very calm. I am always greeted with a cheerful hello or goodbye, being made to feel truly liked and part of this family dynamic that is clearly evident here. When I go home to be with my other 2 children on the weekend, I leave knowing that they will care for my son like he is their child, which gives me such a sense of peace! When I return they can't wait to share all that my son did and truly celebrate every milestone with us! I wouldn't wish my situation on anyone but if anyone should find themselves there, I would tell them they can expect to be carried through it by the love, care, dedication, and compassion of this amazing team of angels! If the DAISY Team Award is for deserving people who absolutely go above and beyond the call of duty, 8 East is a perfect example of that!

The staff of 8 East ICU were warm and caring and went above and beyond 24/7. All the nurses were very professional but thoughtful and kind. When we transferred from 8 East to another unit, we were still well cared for, but we truly appreciated the wonderful team on the 8th floor. I hope their hard work is noticed and appreciated! Everyone on the ICU unit was totally amazing. From day 1 they were always there for me. Everyone, including the environmental services staff, made me feel special. Thank you guys for all that you have done!
