I was the NICU attending physician when we had 3 admissions all at the same time and right at shift change in the morning. Two of these admits were critically ill - a 28 week baby and a term baby in septic shock that ultimately required ECMO. Things were exceptionally busy and Aarika immediately saw a need to assist and spontaneously went to work unsolicited and helped stabilize one of the critically ill neonates with expertise, calmness, and superior care overall. Aarika was a critical team member and facilitated the accomplishments of a myriad of essential tasks and she did so with unmatched compassion and professionalism. It was a great privilege then, and continues to be now, to work with her and all the wonderful nurses in the NICU!
