Aaron would always come in with a cheery attitude, encouraging me that I could get through this. He would joke with me, make me feel like a human being because I didn't feel like one anymore.
Aaron showed compassion and concern from the moment he became my nurse. He answered all of my questions and the many questions my mother had as well. I was admitted for an ileus after abdominal surgery. My biggest fear was having a bowel obstruction and having an NG tube. Aaron heard me crying, came in, and sat down with me. He explained that there are often storms in life but there are always brighter days ahead. He didn't know that I am also going through a painful divorce. When I shared that with him, he reminded me that what I'm going through is not a reflection of me at all. He reminded me that I would get through it. While I didn't have an obstruction, I did have an NG tube. Aaron comforted me through my fear and helped me to be as comfortable as I could. Each day, Aaron reminded me to not give up. He would always come in with a cheery attitude, encouraging me that I could get through this. He would joke with me, make me feel like a human being because I didn't feel like one anymore. I had some amazing nurses but Aaron takes the cake. No matter how busy he was, he helped me with what I needed. He went above and beyond the call of duty. He made my horrible health situation manageable. I am eternally grateful for Aaron and will never forget his kindness. I hope other patients are as blessed as I have been to have been cared for by Aaron.

I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks. Since the first day I met Mr. Book he has shown empathy for his patients and for me. He has shown himself to truly care about how I am feeling. He would bring my medications on time. Watching Mr. Book was an inspiration. Watching him teach his students how to do things safely when administering meds, questions to ask the patients, how to give patients the best care possible. It truly made me think back to why I wanted to finish nursing school. It was nurses like Mr. Book who made me want to become a great nurse. I honestly feel blessed that I had the opportunity to meet and be assigned such an amazing, caring, and wonderful nurse. Aaron Book deserves this recognition more than any nurse I have known, met, or come in contact with in the 36 years of being in and out of the hospital. Mr. Book shows he is a nurse that loves and cares about people, patients, and his job!
