My uncle came into the hospital with a stroke. Our nurses were good, but one nurse stood out, Aaron Rowe. He was GREAT! Being a nurse, I knew how bad the situation was but he went above and beyond. He was so good with me and my family. He introduced himself and laid out a plan for the night. My brother and I left to go grab a drink from the cafeteria and when we got back he had given my uncle a bed bath including combing his hair, changed his central line dressing, put him on the TAP system, given his medications, and repositioned him. It was AMAZING! Every time Aaron was giving my uncle medications or poking his finger he would explain what he was doing and why he was doing it (even if it was the 15th time to explain it). When I went home that night I knew my uncle was in great hands. About 0500 into the morning I received a call from my brother saying I needed to get to the hospital. Aaron not only provided great care, but he had my brother call everyone in when things were not going well. As family arrived, he took the time to explain to each and every person what was happening. I have a huge family, so it took a lot of his time. My uncle passed away later that day. Being in ICU with a family member is so stressful. The other wonderful quality that Aaron possesses is the ability to distract. I know that sounds terrible but sometimes it is nice to not talk about the current situation and talk about pointless information. He talked to us about a recent ski trip he had been on which was the perfect distraction from a truly difficult situation. When my family talks about our experience at BSA, Aaron (that boy that went skiing) comes up. He was amazing. Thank you, Aaron!
