Recently, I picked up a patient after Aaron had cared for her. This patient was a newly diagnosed cancer patient who recently underwent chemo which had resulted in her losing her hair. This patient was very saddened by this new change, but also very accepting. She decided she wanted to have her mid-length haircut instead of losing it gradually.
That day, Aaron offered to help. He cut her hair in such a cute short style and washed her hair and it made her day. I took care of the patient that night and the following four nights and she raved about how great it made her feel that he took the time to make her feel good again.
She was so very appreciative, and her family also loved their mom (and grandma's) new look. This small non-nursing gesture made this patient feel renewed.
