Abbey always goes above and beyond for the STICU patients and staff. She ordered Capri-Suns and had them delivered to the hospital for a patient last week. She also puts unit morale as a top priority and is often doing whatever she can to boost it. But this act is above all others.

A patient here has been hospitalized since March, and he and his fiancée had plans to marry over the summer. His condition declined, and the recovery process will be a long one – so Abbey offered to help the couple get married on campus. She helped the fiancée plan the ceremony, purchased a suit and personally tailored it to allow the patient to put it on like a hospital gown. She purchased the flowers for the bride, decorations, and an archway for the ceremony. Abbey has left no detail undone throughout this process and has given this couple hope that they will indeed be married despite the challenges they have faced with his health.

Abbey is truly a selfless individual who always goes to great lengths for others, whether patients or co-workers, and this instance is proof of Abbey’s heart for others. Abbey is a true example of the WakeWay.
