August 2025 Honoree
Abbey McDonald, RN
My special needs daughter was fortunate to have Abbey as her day nurse while in the ICU. The level of care and love that Abbey provided to my daughter was above and beyond. She took the time to understand my daughter’s favorite things; she sang to her, she made her laugh and smile, she painted her fingernails, she got her all ready to see her brother, which lit up my daughter’s day.
Abbey learned sign language to communicate, and she treated her like my daughter was her family! These are just a few of the things she did for our daughter. Abbey lights up the patient’s room and is the most caring and kind human. We need more nurses like Abbey in our world! This will always be a friendship neither of us will forget! Being with special needs and being in the hospital is scary. Her care made a difficult time the best it could be! I am forever grateful for Abbey.
