Every day, Abbey is compassionate and empathic to our patients and families who experience disparities demographically, psycho-socially, or economically.
Abbey led many efforts in Primary Care promoting health equity for all. Abbey is the RN Supervisor for all mobile bus events along with two Primary Care Clinics. She led our efforts with the MDH vaccine pop-up clinics. She also led in partnering with the Minnesota Autism Society/AuSM group in providing Autism-focused vaccine clinics in our Primary Care locations. Abbey also actively participants in the Pride ERG and is very encouraging to staff to get involved with any of Children’s ERGs. Abbey not only gives her own time and efforts to our patients and families but she also ensures we are staffed for these events, along with everyday staffing needs. Through this, she coordinates with many other departments, ensuring contracts are done, marketing needs are met, and outreach efforts are made. She ensures we know that she is on point and that we can reach out to her for questions or concerns. She effectively and efficiently communicates with all staff and maintains educational materials associated with all these efforts. Every day, Abbey is compassionate and empathic to our patients and families who experience disparities demographically, psycho-socially, or economically. She often found helping our triage nurses navigate through difficult phone calls and providing families with resources to help them get connected with staff who can work with them on financial assistance, rides to appointments, interpreter needs, food resources, and more. She partners with our Providers to provide follow-up calls to those families who need an extra hand and wanting to make sure their needs are met. She works the floor when we are in a staffing crisis during and outside of normal business hours or normal clinic location. For example, during our respiratory surge and the nurse strike, Abbey spent many nights at her clinic to ensure we were staffed and open for walk-in patients. She is a master of childhood vaccine schedules, and is consistently providing vaccine education to staff, patients, and families.
