Abbie Horatschki, BSN

Abbie was my father's nurse on the oncology unit when he was transitioning to hospice care. Abbie displayed compassionate care, customer service excellence, and exceptional nursing care. Abbie treated my father with care and was extremely kind and gentle, even when my father appeared not to be awake and coherent. Abbie worked with my family to create a memory-making for us and left a nice card for us. Abbie went above and beyond to explain things to us and even repeated things when needed.

Abbie advocated for my stepmother, who was adamant about my father leaving the hospital sooner rather than later to spend his remaining time at home. Abbie also assisted my stepmother with the paperwork. All of this was extremely helpful as grief took away so much of our brain capacity. Abbie checked on us frequently and made one of our father's last days on earth more peaceful. I felt so comfortable in that room because of her. We will always remember the care she gave to our family.
