I was transferred in the middle of the night and was fortunate to be assigned to Abbie, who went above and beyond and showed compassion. She walked into my room at 7 a.m. (also cared for me the day/night prior) and immediately noticed that I was in more pain than I had been the night before and my face was flushed. She accessed the situation and immediately began to address the problems to provide relief and determine the change in my medical condition. Not only did she provide quality medical care, but also gave me comfort in knowing that she was there and would take care of whatever needed to be done.
Abbie demonstrated patient and family centered care by showing an interest in who I was as a person. I never felt like I was just another patient or just part of her job. She showed an interest in myself, my wife, and my children. She was open to answering questions from my family, made sure we understood my care, the tests, and why things were happening. I never had to wonder if she was aware of what was happening with me. She was always up-to-date on my condition and checked on me often.
The quality of care was outstanding, professional, caring, compassionate, friendly, and she was interested in me and my family. Her knowledge allowed me to relax as much as possible, knowing she would do everything she could to provide the needed care.
