I didn't think there were nurses around any longer who were so caring. Abby did so much for us. She was not only L's nurse but became a friend. She would schedule our appointments early morning like we preferred. She would personally come to inform us of the doctor's wishes. She always came in person. That one-on-one contact was comforting. In Infusion, you meet a lot of nurses, some were very good. Abby Bird stood above all of those nurses. She went above and beyond so many times. We were at UIHC about every other day. L passed away a few months ago. When his visitation was held, I was so amazed to look up and see Abby walk in. L would have been so happy to see her. Thank you!
