As my nurse that day, Abbie did all she could to help me through this nightmare, but she also went several steps outside of just her job as my nurse.
I went to be induced at 34 weeks with high blood pressure and a high-risk trisomy 13 pregnancy. Abbie was my daytime nurse when we lost my Babygirl's heartbeat when I was 2cm dilated. As my nurse that day, Abbie did all she could to help me through this nightmare, but she also went several steps outside of just her job as my nurse.

The next morning, after I delivered that night, Abbie came on her day off to visit us, bringing us flowers and a cross I’ll hold forever. She didn’t stop there; she also attended the funeral 2 weeks later, attended the cuddle cot ceremony in remembrance, and has also checked in on me several times personally to see how I was doing, if I needed anything, or to simply let me know she was there and will forever remember my baby.

What Abbie does not know is that her gratitude and kind soul kept me together most days, keeping me going and showing me that she may have been the nurse on the worst possible day of my life, but she has still to this day left my side with love and support through this journey of having a stillborn child. Abbie didn’t know me; I was a stranger when she came onto shift that day. She only knew my baby as a heartbeat in my belly, but she came back and held my sweet baby like she was waiting for her for the whole 8 months. I cannot extend my thanks to her enough.
