Dr. Abby Garlock has been a mentor and a leader in my life since 2018. I came to the Hunt School of Nursing to obtain my BSN degree in the Fall of 2018, and here I am now, in the Spring of 2024, graduating with my DNP, all thanks to Dr. Garlock. Dr. Garlock has always presented herself in the utmost professional manner but never failed to nurture the personal connections that she has with each of her students. She forever encouraged me with her daily devotions, her words of praise, and her reassuring confidence in me. She has the ability to teach and to seamlessly facilitate learning unlike any professor, and I have had many college professors throughout my eight-year college journey. Through the lengthy and often stressful DNP project process, Dr. Garlock made herself available to my every need. Over Christmas Break last year, I faced a sudden and detrimental development in my project implementation. If it were not for her reassuring comfort and quick minded thinking, I would have surely faced defeat. I will forever be grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and grow under Dr. Abby Garlock’s guidance. She not only taught me how to be a good nurse, but she has now shaped me into a good provider. She has truly made the difference in my life, and I know she will continue to do the same for every student that she crosses paths with. To know her is to be blessed by her.
