Abby Gibson, BSN, RN

Abby served a newborn in the pediatric unit that was nearing death due to his tumors. On the Friday that he was expected to die she not only remained focused on his needs but also on his mother's and extended family's needs while still maintaining focus on her other patient's needs. I saw Abby get down to the patient level in his mother's arms as his breathing slowed. She loved him and his family through that day. She advocated for his comfort and needs, but she does this for all her patients. The extraordinary work she does is ordinary and regular for her. Abby has such a deep love for her patients and their loved ones. I saw her heart break because she wanted the best for her patient and his family. She loved fiercely that day. She loved with compassion that is reminiscent of Jesus and Sister Catherine McAuley. I am proud to serve alongside Abby.
