An auto crash brought the patient and his wife to the TICU. His injury eventually led to a palliative situation. The wife was also put first in TICU. Abby kept her informed of his progress, taking her to see him as she recovered daily. Also updated her in her room frequently. The wife was transferred after three days to a regular floor and home in two more days. As relatives visited, we were very impressed with Abby’s care for the patient, but more impressed with the care shown to us with progress updates and support to help us keep the wife updated throughout the 10 days until the palliative transfer was done. She helped the wife through the final visit as well.
