Abby is kind, caring, and yet able to have difficult conversations that allow students to grow and improve.
Abby ensures all her students are empowered to achieve their highest level of nursing excellence. She asks thought-provoking questions, challenges us in difficult situations, all while providing support and her own expertise to help us grow our nursing practice. She is well respected by all staff on the unit and helps students talk with nurses, pharmacists, physicians, PAs, NPs, all members of the care team. Abby was the highlight of my undergraduate degree at OHSU. The advice and lessons she gave me were things I talked about in nursing interviews on how I grew my practice as a nurse while incorporating the values of confidence, patience, flexibility, and a caring attitude. Abby is beloved by her students! She has strong clinical skills that inspire confidence and admiration in her clinical students as well as the nurses she works with on the units. She holds strong standards for patient care and yet does so with humor, wit, confidence, and support. Her students come away with a depth of knowledge, skill, and confidence that stands out. She is kind, caring, and yet able to have difficult conversations that allow students to grow and improve. Every student is better because they had her as a teacher. She is a role model for clinical faculty and often sought as a place to get sage advice and support. Abby is an exceptional leader and teacher.
