January 2025 Honoree
Abby Myers, RN
My 79-year-old mother was admitted to the ICU for pneumonia and sepsis. Abby was our nurse during one of the hardest days of my mom’s stay. I came in on that Tuesday morning and found that my mom was doing very poorly. Abby hugged me as I cried. Then, she was there to comfort me and help as I let family members know that things didn’t look good. Abby was not only concerned with my mom’s comfort and well-being, but she also cared for us, the patient's family. Miraculously, my mom started to show signs of improvement. Abby was our nurse during that day as well. Throughout the day, Abby tirelessly answered our questions, checked on test results, and helped us understand what was going on. Never did we feel like a burden or a bother. Instead, we felt like family. Having Abby there to help us navigate a difficult week has been one of the biggest blessings during a trying journey. Samaritan Hospital is a better place because of Abby.
Thank you, Abby, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
