I was in the hospital for four days and had Abby as a nurse. She always had a smile on her face and was concerned about my comfort and what had to be done to follow the care plan.

She explained the procedures the doctors wanted done. She was always keeping my wife and me up to date on information from the doctors. She was concerned about our comfort and needs. She kept us informed on upcoming tests, procedures, and teleconferences – she always told me what they were. When starting IVs, she explained how long they would run and what they had been ordered for.

Abby always had a cheerful good morning and would stop in before the end of her shift to check to see if there was anything that needed to be done before she went to report for the shift change. She was my primary nurse for the four days I was in Avera Marshall. She has an outstanding personality. She did outstanding work, and you could tell she was there for the patient and the care they received.

Abby was the type of nurse that, if I were doing the hiring and training, she would be the example I would want all my staff to be like! I feel I was very lucky to have Abby as my nurse. She is an outstanding nurse, and Avera Marshall should feel honored to have someone of that caliber working for them.
