Abdulai Sefoi, RN

Abdulai Sefoi works mostly on psych ICU units and as the psych triage RN. He is compassionate and patient even when patients are yelling in his face and calling him names. He has a calming presence that permeates the unit that he is on. He always has a smile and a joke for you. During the pandemic he was consistently able to get patients who had refused a Covid test to allow one. He is in school for his DNP and if we are lucky, he will continue to work at HCMC. We are so blessed to have him as a part of inpatient psychiatry.

Abdulai started at HCMC as a Mental Health Worker, he became a nurse in 2017 and since that time he has grown to be a leader amongst our team. He is a member of the excellence council and has been involved in many initiatives the excellence council has implemented. Specifically, the council recently rolled out tech time, this is a time in which patients are allowed to use their phones to communicate with friends and family, use social media, etc. Abdulai researched the literature and other psychiatric units to gain support and aid in the implementation plan. This has been a huge success! He is consistently a patient advocate, providing the patient’s voice and perspective in often tough situations.
