I told Abbey that my husband had brought me flowers and a beautiful card for our anniversary tomorrow, and that I felt bad I couldn't even get his card before I came into the hospital. She told me she liked making cards for special occasions. I fell asleep before she left her shift, but when I woke up on anniversary day, she had left markers, highlighters, and pens so I could make him a card. It was my husband's favorite gift. It meant a lot to both of us.
