Abby held my hand, placed cold compresses on my forehead, and coached me through contractions and pushing episodes.
Abby was my assigned nurse during my induction and delivery. She was attentive, communicative, responsive, kind, sensitive, thoughtful, everything one would want from a healthcare provider and more. During my induction, there were a few health scares (runs of deceleration and low blood pressure of both me and baby). Abby stayed by my bedside while calling for additional help. She communicated with me clearly and frequently, which helped me remain informed and calm while the health issues were being addressed.

Later, I eventually reached the full 10cm dilation, but my spouse had stepped out to run an errand. Abby held my hand, placed cold compresses on my forehead, and coached me through contractions and pushing episodes. She effortlessly stepped into the role of a sister or close friend without hesitation. She was truly God sent because in that moment, I started to feel vulnerable not having my spouse or mom around while actively delivering, but having Abby at my bedside provided me with comfort and support.

In the meantime, Abby and the charge nurse did everything in their power to get a hold of my spouse, who arrived just in time to cut the umbilical cord! All in all, I had a wonderful birthing experience thanks to Abby and the team. Abby is nothing short of amazing and I write this nomination in strong support of Abby.
