June 2026 Honoree
Abigail Perez 2026, LVN
We have been seeing a doctor for about a year while preparing to start our journey toward conceiving. Throughout every visit, my nurse, from the very beginning, has provided exceptional care and customer service. A few months ago, the doctor referred my husband and me to a fertility specialist and ordered several tests to help us better understand our fertility. One of those tests had to be completed within a very specific timeframe. When we arrived at the lab, we realized we didn't have the lab order with us. We immediately began to panic. I called the office, knowing it was a very busy day, and was told that every nurse and physician was currently with patients but that they would continue trying to reach someone. With only about ten minutes before the lab was going to turn us away, this nurse called. Despite everything else they were juggling that day, they took the time to make sure we had exactly what we needed so we could complete the test. Their quick response turned an incredibly stressful situation into an enormous relief.
Since being diagnosed with PCOS and struggling with infertility, this journey has been emotionally challenging. I've called and stopped by the office several times with questions, worries, and concerns, probably more than I'd like to admit. Every single time, this nurse has listened with compassion, reassured me that they would find the answers I needed, and always followed through. Even when I feel like my questions are insignificant or silly, they never make me feel like a burden. Instead, they make me feel heard, validated, and genuinely cared for. This nurse hasn't done anything dramatic like jumping in front of a bus to save me, but what they have done is, in many ways, even more meaningful. They have been consistent, kind, dependable, compassionate, and present. Those qualities may not always make headlines, but they have made an immeasurable difference during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I feel incredibly blessed to have this nurse as my nurse. If this is the level of care they provide to me, I have no doubt there are countless other patients with untold stories of the compassion, dedication, and genuine kindness they show every day. They are a remarkable nurse, and I would love to see them recognized.
