Working with Abi for the last two years has provided me with numerous opportunities to witness her compassionate care, collaborative team approach, and genuine accountability for each action she takes. Abi went above and beyond for her patient who came into the emergency department with an extremely large amount of blood dried into their hair. Abi noted that the patient mentioned multiple times being concerned with how their hair would be cleaned as they were unable to take care of it themselves. She elected to remain after her shift for nearly an hour in addition to the time spent while on shift and gently shampoo, soak, and comb out all of the blood and clots from the patient’s hair. She took care to remain gentle and patient so as to be thorough but not cause discomfort to the patient either. This kind of selfless, compassionate approach is not newly seen in Abi. She approaches each patient she encounters this way and is an excellent addition to our team and a resource to her patients
