Abby displayed a Team approach by collaborating with other nurses and the doctors. She was open-minded to the ideas and suggestions of others.
Abby was the first nurse that we had when we went into Labor and Delivery. She came back for another shift less than 24 hours later and remembered us by name. Abby was very young in her appearance, but mature in her approach. She was straightforward and honest but explained the situation and options to us in a clear and caring manner as my labor and delivery started to become more complex. Abby seemed to have extensive training and knowledge in labor positions to assist with easing pain and helping to get my daughter’s head engaged for delivery (ie, use of a peanut ball, laying sideways). Abby displayed a Team approach by collaborating with other nurses and the doctors. She was open-minded to the ideas and suggestions of others. Abby was present. My labor and delivery were very lengthy, but Abby only took short breaks when necessary. Then she returned to the situation refreshed, focused, and ready to continue to help my husband and I meet our baby girl. Throughout the entire labor and delivery, my husband and I felt we had someone we could turn to because Abby established a rapport with us immediately upon meeting us.
