Achsah Abraham is more than deserving of the Nursing Director of the Year Award due to her exceptional leadership, dedication to patient care, and unwavering support for her staff. She leads by example in the way she builds personal connections. She is the first one to sit down next to a patient on their most vulnerable days, and you can count on her to get them to smile or laugh by the time she leaves the room. She gets sweet treats for our patients on their down days or picks up coffee and breakfast for visitors who haven’t left their loved one’s side.

When she’s not out on the floor supporting staff or talking to patients, her door is always open. She’s able to de-escalate challenging situations and meet patients where they are. She handles the most chaotic days with grace and the warmest smile, and makes dealing with the rough days and various personalities seem effortless. The more experienced nurses on D7 say they hope she stays until they retire, and the novice nurses say her genuine kindness, continuous encouragement, and drive to make us reach our full potential are one of the biggest reasons why they work here. Most of all, she is humble. We take pride in telling everyone she’s our boss.
