Adam Erickson is an amazing nurse, he has taken on some very challenging patients and situations in the PICU over the last few months and has done so with such grace. We have had two very difficult and sad admissions regarding accidental trauma situation that could have been preventable.
Both babies were very critical when they arrived, and Adam was so calm, compassionate and thorough. He helped our newer nurses when they had questions and made sure everyone felt comfortable speaking up for safety. Both these patients ended up having life support withdrawn and both passed away. Adam was here to provide end of life care for both babies.
I cannot even imagine how heartbreaking that process must be. Adam was so compassionate, kind, gentle and careful with these babies. He was supportive of the family and our staff who also struggled with this. We are so fortunate to have someone like Adam on our team. He cares about the team, their emotional wellbeing. Adam is so very deserving of this DAISY Award.
