Let me start by saying how upset I was coming to the hospital; I was sad and anxious and kept breaking down before I even got to J's room. Once I got there, we had to put on a blue plastic gown over our clothes before entering, and I looked in and just sat in a chair outside his room for a moment.

After getting the courage to go in, Adam O'Bryan saw us, and he came right in and introduced himself and brought us another chair without us having to ask. He asked us if he could bring us anything and said, "If you have any questions, feel free to ask." He came in, said he needed to move him, and went and got another nurse named M to help him. After turning him we moved to the other side of the bed, and he took off the mitts they had on my uncle J’s hands; Adam said since we were in there he would take them off so we could hold his hand and make things more comfortable for us.

Adam came in multiple times: once to give him antibiotics, another to test his blood sugar, and also to give him a platelet transfusion. I asked questions, and he always explained everything and made me feel so at ease. I have never met a more pleasant and professional young man who excels at his job than Adam.

My uncle started moving his hands when Adam was taking blood, and I said, "Your ok, Uncle J," and Adam asked if that’s what he likes to be called, and I said yes, so after that he called him J. I understand how difficult their jobs are, and he did an amazing job. The way he made us feel like we knew him forever and made us comfortable when we were there for over 3 hours visiting helped us more than he knows. Adam went above and beyond, and I just want him and you to know you have a very special young man working for you, and you and he should both be proud.
