Adam stops and makes a connection with his patients. One patient was so scared and Adam talked to him about his land and hunting and the patient perked up.
Adam is hardcore. I work on the COVID unit with Adam. He goes above and beyond to make sure the patient and family concerns are addressed. He volunteered to work here. When I first started working here it was an open unit and when the patients died and were so sick I was getting close to burning out, but I see him keep going and going. I can see it in his eyes it gets to him but one day it stood out. The patient was dying and the wife was allowed in to be with him while he was actively dying. Adam was so compassionate in the way he interacted with her and the patient. I had to ask him a question about a drug titration and in the middle of his 2 patients (one dying one coding), he stopped and took time to kindly answer my question. He stops and makes a connection with his patients. One patient was so scared and Adam talked to him about his land and hunting and the patient perked up—he goes above and beyond and he is a true DAISY Nurse. My wife works in the COVID unit at Baptist -she has been a nurse 2 years and I have seen it harden her—he has not let it happen to him. He made a connection with them about county life which eased the pain.
