My son was admitted to the hospital and spent three nights there in order to have surgery on a fractured C6 vertebra. He was put in the pediatric cancer wing as an overflow patient that night. Adam was our nurse Wednesday and Thursday evening and he was very considerate and encouraging to us to be undergoing such a serious surgery.
My son is a teenager, so as you can imagine, it was hard for him to be hearing the news of surgery on his spine and no sports for a few months. Adam always had a smile on his face and at such a crucial time was always ready and willing to respond to my son's bedtime calls when I fell asleep and wasn't awake to move his bed up or down. I didn't feel as though I HAD to stay awake those two nights but felt that Adam was extremely capable of caring for my son and his needs (no matter how small) so that I could get some rest.
Adam took the extra time to go the extra mile to show comfort and support for us, a family he didn't even know, to answer our questions and make us feel as comfortable as possible while we stayed in the hospital. I especially had to smile when after surgery and the nurses changed from night nurse to daytime nurse, Adam joked with my son about having a story to tell with the scar on his neck... Japanese samurai sword fighting accident, one we have used while talking to people already. Adam just knew how to help and support and encourage during such a difficult time for our family and we are so very grateful.
Adam went above and beyond for us and we are positive he does the same for all the families he cares for at Promedica.
