Addison Karasch, RN, BSN

Recently, Addison (Addie) was given a patient with a pre-viable, pre-hospital delivery with a complex social situation that resulted in a neo-natal death. The patient had been so emotional during her admission with the unexpected delivery and then passing of her daughter. Addie provided excellent care during her stay. Once transferred to our special care unit, Addie was able to help stabilize the patient, make her feel safe, and then provide bereavement care to her and her daughter. Addie assisted the patient with giving her daughter a name, providing pictures, making a memory box, and finally assisting with making arrangements for her daughter’s funeral services. Labor and delivery nurses often care for fetal losses, we know the toll it takes to the care giver. Addie was the best choice for this patient. She never let her opinions waiver her care, she remained non-judgmental and free of prejudices. She truly possesses all the qualities of an exceptional nurse to our patient population, and we are thankful for her.
