There was a patient who had already been discharged from the NICU whose mother called and had questions about his circumcision. The mother was very concerned and in tears. Adele answered what questions she was medically allowed to answer and then told the mother if she was still concerned to come to the ER. The mother did in fact bring the baby to the ER. The wait in the ER was long and the mother was very upset.
Adele heard the mother was in the ER so she asked fellow nurses to keep an eye on her patients while she ran down and checked on the baby and mother. Adele did not have to go down or take extra measures to get the baby seen by the OB/GYN that did the circ but she did. She demonstrated an excellent level of care beyond what she had to do. She eased the mother's fears, helped gather supplies to stop the circ from bleeding, but most of all she was an above and beyond NICU nurse who put patient and family first.
Adele does this often. She always goes "above and beyond" for the patients and family.
