Adeleye Alade
I am honored to nominate Adeleye for the DAISY Award. Throughout my journey at West Coast University, Ade has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, compassion, and unwavering positivity. She has a remarkable ability to find the good in every situation and inspire those around her to do the same.
From the very beginning of our program, Ade has been a strong advocate for our cohort. She continuously encourages and supports her classmates, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and fostering a sense of unity within our group. Her leadership is not defined by a title but by her actions, her willingness to uplift others, and her commitment to helping those around her succeed.
Whenever Ade walks into a room, her energy is contagious. Her bright smile, positive attitude, and vibrant personality transform the atmosphere and lift everyone's spirits, even during the most challenging times. Nursing school is demanding, and there have been many moments when stress and self-doubt felt overwhelming. Ade consistently reminds us to keep moving forward and to find joy even in difficult circumstances.
One experience that truly highlights her compassion and leadership occurred after a significant assessment. I fell just below the required benchmark, and I was devastated. I felt discouraged, defeated, and isolated, believing I was alone in my struggle. Over that weekend, Ade sent a message through Canvas to all the students who had not passed on their first attempt, including herself. Her message was filled with encouragement, understanding, hope, and support. She reminded us that one setback did not define our abilities or our future as nurses. Her words brought comfort during a difficult time and gave me renewed confidence and motivation to keep going. That simple act of kindness made a lasting impact on me and many others.
Another moment that reflects Ade's outlook on life occurred when our cohort came into class feeling discouraged and exhausted. The room was quiet, and morale was low. Ade walked in and enthusiastically said, "You guys ready? We only have nine more weeks!" When many of us responded with less enthusiasm, she reminded us, "We have to find joy in the little things. This is what makes our life." Those words stayed with me. They exemplify the perspective, resilience, and positivity she brings not only to our cohort but to everyone around her.
Ade has helped me in countless ways that she may never fully realize. Her advocacy, leadership, compassion, and ability to inspire others embody the qualities the DAISY Award recognizes. She has made our nursing school journey more manageable, meaningful, and hopeful. I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
