May 2026 Honoree
Adonyah Y. Whipple, MS, APRN, ACHPN
The ICU had a patient who was bleeding internally from a perforated diverticulum. Overnight, the patient had lost a significant amount of blood and was told that they most likely only had hours to live. The patient voiced only wanting to die at home with his 12-year-old dog. Adonyah was at the bedside and explained this might not be possible, but she would do everything she could to make it happen. At 11:30 AM, she found resources to take care of the patient, even getting overnight care. All of the pieces came together to make this patient’s last wish come true. This patient was discharged home.
